Also, to go against the above answer a bit, it is doubtful a call to a the corporate EB Games office would have any effect on them honoring the extended warranty without that unique serial number there. However, be aware that they likely won't honor the extended warranty you purchased from EB Games - extended warranties are always handled directly by the store itself. If you're just having a problem with the DS, you may want to contact Nintendo to see what repair options they have.
